Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas — This past year, during the 2017 Session of the Texas Legislature, Texas saw yet another in a continuing string of sensational sessions on the life issue, passing six pro-life bills. This, says Texas Alliance for Life Executive Director Dr. Joe Pojman (right, with Gov. Greg Abbott,) followed a very successful pro-life session in 2015 under the leadership of Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Speaker of the House Joe Straus.

Establishing a state ban on the sale of fetal tissue was a key priority of Governor Greg Abbott’s LIFE Initiative, which he announced in August 2015. Senate Bill 8 also carries the support of several prominent pro-life organizations, including Texas Right to Life, the Texas Alliance for Life, the Texans for Life Coalition, and the Texas Catholic Conference.
“These are two conservative groups,” said Roberts. “Having support from such like minded organizations motivates me to continue my mission of being the most loyal, the most committed, and the hardest working candidate in the race for HD126. I look forward to using those same principles to guide me once elected, and I believe supporters like these groups will be proud of their endorsement.”

Last month I had the privilege of attending Texas Alliance for Life’s annual benefit dinner. It is crucial that we all continue our work to defend innocent life. I completely support the defunding of planned parenthood and I’m proud of my pro-life voting record which only shows my commitment to protecting innocent life and making it as difficult as possible for groups like Planned Parenthood to exist.
“As Congress debates the taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, I expect this pope to use this historic opportunity to remind us, particularly his Catholic following in Congress, that lawmakers should always vote to uphold the sanctity of life rather than provide special treatment to organizations that treat life with such disregard,” Williams said.
