“My promise to the abortion lobby is that Texas will be the strongest pro-life state in the United States of America,” Abbott told the crowd.
Joe Pojman, Texas Alliance for Life’s executive director, told the Observer that his group is concerned with getting solid “pro-life” legislation on the books. They back laws that will stand up to the inevitable legal challenges that have defined the abortion conversation over the past three Lege sessions.
Joe Pojman, director of the anti-abortion lobby group Texas Alliance for Life, told the Senate committee that the law sends the message that a child “would have been better off had he or she been aborted.”
“The minor has to have an opportunity to have an abortion without the involvement of her parents,” he said. “That’s not our preference, but that’s the reality issued across the states by the [United States] Supreme Court … I predict that what the [Texas] Supreme Court comes up with will protect parents’ rights far more than what’s happening now.”
