Planned Parenthood released its 2020 – 2021 annual report for services spanning from late 2019 to late 2020 last month. In the time frame covered, Planned Parenthood ended the lives of over 380,000 unborn babies nationwide. That number shows an increase of nearly 28,600 abortions from the previous year or an 8.1% increase, even though the number of patients seen by Planned Parenthood, roughly 2.16 million, decreased by approximately 240,000, or 10% from the previous report.

It’s no surprise to pro-lifers that abortion is Planned Parenthood’s money maker. The report statistics show a continued downward trend seen in previous year’s annual reports in the numbers of actual women’s health services provided by Planned Parenthood, such as pap smears and well-women exams. The Charlotte Lozier Institute reported that since 2010: the total number of health services provided at Planned Parenthood facilities across the country is down 21.4%. Cancer screening and prevention services have dropped by 74%, including declines of 77% for breast exams and 74% for pap tests. Prenatal services are down 72%. Contraceptive services are down 41%. Unique patients have dropped by 840,000 since 2010 – a 28% decline. And don’t be fooled by Planned Parenthood’s mention of breast exams. They provided zero mammogram services.

Also, in the report, Planned Parenthood stated they have $1.7 billion in income and over $2.1 billion in net assets. That is an increase from the previous report. Taxpayer funding in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements hit $633.4 million, or almost $1.74 million per day. That is an annual increase of $15.3 million from the previous year, making up 37% of Planned Parenthood’s overall revenue.  $80 million of that government money came from defrauding the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) by wrongfully applying for and obtaining pandemic relief funds. That’s right, while the rest of America was in crisis, navigating the unknowns and economic hits of the pandemic, Planned Parenthood capitalized off of it. They lined their already thick pockets built up off the millions of unborn babies’ lives lost. Despite their ample net assets, they are morally and ethically bankrupt.

Planned Parenthood’s ability to defy the vast majority of taxpayer wishes that tax dollars not fund abortions or abortion providers is thanks to the pro-abortion extremist Biden/Harris administration’s repeal of Trump’s Protect Life Rule, making Planned Parenthood eligible for Title X grants.

So what does all this mean for us as we navigate the new post-Roe landscape across America and each state? For Planned Parenthood, which has made it clear they are about making money by taking lives and harming the hearts of women, it means that they always have to be after more – more babies lives taken, more women hurt by the repercussions of abortion. And to that end, Planned Parenthood’s advocacy and political organizations will spend a record $50 million on November’s midterm elections to affect election outcomes in their favor.

Their ads will contain mistruths and false statements. They will claim abortion is healthcare. They will attack male elected officials in pro-life states while turning a blind eye to the female legislators who authored and supported many of the pro-life laws we’ve seen pass and the female voters who cast their ballots for life.

With that in mind, we must educate those around us about the facts of our pro-life laws to discredit their falsified talking points. We at Texas Alliance for Life continue to work toward that effort. It’s also critical that we continue to get out and vote pro-life.

We’ve put together a valuable resource for you to use as you vote, our Texas Alliance for Life Pro-life voter guide. You can fill in your address information to receive a voter guide for your ballot.

We ask that you share that with people in your world who you know value the sanctity of human life and vote for those values.

  1. aborto legal
