You’ll be in good company. Last year dozens of elected officials attended the Texas Alliance for Life Annual Benefit Dinner.

Special Guest: Texas Governor Greg Abbott

2015-governorabbott-portrait-officialw_circleWe will present Texas Governor Greg Abbott with our prestigious award for his “Courageous Defense of Life” at our 2016 Annual Benefit Dinner.

We are honored to have Governor Abbott join us as our special guest at this year’s benefit dinner. For several years now, the pro-life spotlight has been centered on Texas, and not by accident. Governor Abbott’s leadership on the life issue has been invaluable. We look forward to recognizing him with our Courageous Defense of Life award.

Governor Abbott has a long record of success during his time in public office. As a member of the Texas Supreme Court, he defended a strong interpretation of the state law that requires abortion doctors to notify parents before performing abortions on their children. As the Attorney General of Texas, he successfully defended numerous state laws and policies against court challenges, including the sonogram law, defunding Planned Parenthood, and increased safety standards at abortion facilities. in 2015, Governor Abbott presided over a sensational legislative session with the passage of five major pro-life bills, continued defunding of Planned Parenthood, and increased funding for compassionate alternatives to abortion.

Featured Speaker: David Bereit, National Director of 40 Days for Life

This year, the featured speaker will be David Bereit, the National Director of 40 Days for Life Campaign. David became an outspoken pro-life advocate after Planned Parenthood announced plans to build an abortion facility in his Texas town in 1998.

He helped to start and build a local grassroots coalition that rallied 60 churches and thousands of people together and dramatically reduced abortions in the region. Planned Parenthood recognized the effectiveness of David’s efforts when it labeled his town “the most anti-choice place in the nation.”

David led the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in College Station, Texas. He eventually became National Director of 40 Days for Life.

His pro-life work has been featured in the media hundreds of times, including coverage on Fox News, HBO, ABC, NBC and CBS television stations, numerous radio programs, and in over 100 newspapers across the country including USA Today, The Washington Post, and The LA Times.

Our continued pro-life success depends largely on our Annual Benefit Dinner. Come celebrate with us as we gear up for a new legislative session. Do you want to share this information with a friend?
