Legislature Should Pass SCR 19/HCR 109 to Create the Texas Life Monument on the Capitol Grounds
Please immediately urge your Texas State Representative to support SCR 19 / HCR 109. Those resolutions will create the Texas Life Monument on the Capitol grounds. The eight-foot bronze sculpture depicts a mother with an unborn child cradled in a world-shaped womb.
Thursday is a deadline for the House to pass House bills and resolutions. Time is short. Please call or email immediately.
The Senate has passed SCR 19, authored by Sen. Tan Parker (R-Flower Mound), and forwarded it to the House. The House version, HCR 109, authored by Rep. Caroline Harris Davila (R-Round Rock), is ready to be scheduled for debate on the House floor. Either could be the vehicle that goes to the Governor’s desk.

Background
- Created by artist Timothy Schmalz, the Life Monument is an eight-foot bronze sculpture that depicts a mother with an unborn child cradled in a world-shaped womb. The statue captures the physical relationship between mother and child.
- The statue can be seen at the Church of San Marcello al Corso in Rome and at the Theological College in Washington, D.C.
- The Texas Life Monument requires no public funds. It will be entirely privately funded.
