AUSTIN, TX — Texas Alliance for Life PAC today announced its strong endorsement of Gary Gates in the Republican Primary Runoff Election. Gates, who finished first in the March 1 Primary, is seeking to fill an open seat on the Texas Railroad Commission. The Primary Runoff Election will be on Tuesday, May 24, with Early Voting beginning the week before on May 16.

“We strongly endorse Gary Gates for the Texas Railroad Commission,” said Dr. Joe Pojman, Texas Alliance for Life’s executive director. “Gary’s deep commitment to pro-life values, in addition to his success as a business owner, makes him the right person for the job.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Texas Alliance for Life PAC,” said Gates. “For the last two decades, my wife and I have been strong supporters of pro-life causes, beginning in our home with the adoption of several of our children. TAL is a strong organization with a proven track record of fighting for the cause, and their support means a great deal to me. If I’m blessed to succeed on May 24, I plan to use everything in my ability as a statewide Republican officeholder to support pro-life causes.”

Gates received nearly 600,000 votes in the March 1 Primary Election, finishing 10 percentage points ahead of his runoff opponent. He and his wife Melissa live on their family’s ranch in Fort Bend County, and they have 13 adult children, 11 of whom were adopted.

The Railroad Commission is a three-person board tasked with overseeing Texas’ Oil & Natural Gas Industry and it needs a proven, successful business owner who understands the industry.
