Austin, Texas: The Texas Alliance for Life PAC endorsed numerous pro-life candidates at all levels of government who have demonstrated commitment to protecting unborn children and their mothers and supporting women and families. We congratulate our endorsed candidates who won their elections last night and look forward to working with them in the coming legislative session and in communities across our great state. We also say goodbye and express our gratitude to many who fought alongside us to secure Texas’ pro-life gains.
Texas Alliance for Life Executive Director Amy O’Donnell issued the following statement:
“I’ve often said we are one election away from losing our pro-life gains. Never has that rung truer than last night.
“Several races remain too close to call, but the overall outcome is clear. Pro-abortion extremists have gained ground, and the lives of unborn children hang in the balance, along with support for women and families facing unplanned pregnancies. We have our work cut out for us in the 90th Legislative Session. Fortunately, pro-lifers hold the majority in the Texas Senate, and we will do all we can to help them hold the line on life.
“We thank Governor Greg Abbott for his many pro-life achievements over his twelve years in office, and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick for his leadership on the life issue. We are disappointed in the outcome of their races.
“These results call for honest reflection among pro-life advocates and candidates on how we win back ground on this issue together. The pro-life movement is no stranger to adversity, not even in Texas. Our progress has been hard won, and we have faced setbacks before. One thing is certain: backing down from life is not an option. As we work to protect the gains we’ve made, we will continue educating Texans on the value of every life, on how our laws protect and support both women and their unborn children, and we will counter the misinformation spread online and in the media that helped pave the way for these results.
“Texas Alliance for Life stands undeterred in our fight to protect innocent human life from conception to natural death, as we have for nearly four decades.”
