Austin, TX — Texas Alliance for Life was deeply saddened to hear that our longstanding partner and friend, Kyleen Wright, President of Texans for Life Coalition, has passed away.
Kyleen’s influence on Texas pro-life law was profound. She dedicated her life to defending women and unborn children from the tragedy of abortion, becoming one of the most influential voices in the Texas pro-life movement. Her work has shaped laws and policies that continue to protect life today.
She was instrumental in the passage of Texas’s landmark Sonogram Law and was one of the four architects of the historic House Bill 2 legislation passed in a special session. Kyleen’s tireless work also played a critical role in advancing the Human Life Protection Act, the Life of the Mother Act, Defunding Planned Parenthood, banning mail-order chemical abortion drugs, and passing other key life-saving legislation.
“Kyleen Wright was a massive strength to the Texas pro-life movement. For decades, she gave her voice, her talents, her wit, and her whole heart to ensuring that both women and unborn children were protected under Texas law,” said Amy O’Donnell, Acting Executive Director of Texas Alliance for Life. “We at Texas Alliance for Life are profoundly grateful for the opportunity we had to work alongside Kyleen on so many legislative victories for life. Her unwavering courage, wisdom, and leadership have left an indelible mark on Texas history and will continue to save lives for generations to come.”
The board and staff at Texas Alliance for Life extend our deepest condolences to Kyleen’s family and the many friends, legislators, leaders, and advocates who had the privilege of working with her. Her loss is deeply felt, and her legacy will continue to inspire us all.
