Wish Gov. Greg and Cecelia Abbott a Happy Birthday!

Saturday, November 13, is the birthday of pro-life Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott. Both are pro-life heroes. Please send them a short message wishing them both a very Happy Birthday.

Also, thank them for their commitment to protecting unborn babies from the tragedy of abortion and to helping mothers with unplanned pregnancies. Countless babies have been born who would otherwise have been aborted because of Greg and Cecilia Abbott.

Please see the sample message below.

The Honorable Greg Abbott
Governor of Texas

Dear Governor Abbott:

I wish you and First Lady Cecilia Abbott a very happy birthday.

Thank you for your support for the pro-life measures that have passed during the regular legislative session and the special sessions.

Those measures include increased funding for the Alternatives to Abortion program, the Texas Heartbeat Act, the Human Life Protection Act, and the ban on mail-order abortions.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Your Name & Address

The Texas Legislature completed its regular session in the spring and three special sessions this summer with sensational results. The Legislature passed, and Governor Abbott signed into law these important pro-life measures:

  • SB 1, the Legislative Appropriations Act, that included a 25% increase in funding for the state’s highly successful Alternatives to Abortion program, now at $100 million for the next two years program. The program will reach 150,000 unique clients each year. Services for women with an unplanned pregnancy continue for three years after the birth of the child. This funding is part of a package of funding the Legislature passed and Gov. Abbott signed to help low-income women, particularly women with unplanned pregnancies, which we explain here.
  • SB 8, the Texas Heartbeat Act, to protect unborn children from abortion if the baby’s heartbeat can be detected.
  • HB 1280, the Human Life Protection Act, a law to completely protect unborn babies from the tragedy of abortion beginning at conception (fertilization). This law goes into effect when and to the extent the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, which is possible next summer.
Governor Abbott signs the Human Life Protection Act with members of Texas Alliance for Life’s board and staff.

  • During the second special session, Abbott asked for a bill to ban mail-order abortions and establish safety protocols for chemical abortions. The Legislature passed SB 4, and Abbott promptly signed it into law. SB 4 will go into effect on December 2.
