Maura K. Quinlan
Maura has spent over 40 years using her legal skills to promote life. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame law school, she took a position with Americans United for Life in Chicago, where she spent several years as Chief Staff Counsel—drafting statutes and engaging in litigation involving abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia in federal and state courts. In that capacity, she also frequently testified before legislative committees supporting pro-life legislation. And she has participated in numerous local and national radio and television programs and debates on college campuses.
In 1988, Maura moved on from AUL to practice in Pennsylvania. There, she concentrated on religious liberties litigation and continued her pro-life work. She was a primary drafter of the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act, which was challenged in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, and helped to shepherd it through the General Assembly. In addition, she assisted the Attorney General’s office in defending the statute from the trial court through the Supreme Court. After the oral arguments in Casey, Maura (on behalf of the Pennsylvania Attorney General) participated in an hour and a half program on C-Span opposite Kitty Kolbert (who had argued on behalf of Planned Parenthood).
Maura and her husband live in Pennsylvania. They have two daughters.
