Here’s a look at some of the extreme pro-abortion rhetoric and activities at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

To begin, one of the most shocking elements was outside the convention, where Planned Parenthood ended the lives of 25 unborn babies on their bus.

Inside the convention, so-called “reproductive freedom” was a central theme throughout the event, with numerous speakers delivering massive amounts of misinformation, disinformation, and outright lies, including Vice President Harris herself.

What they’re promoting is far from freedom — it’s the most radical push for abortion on demand that we’ve ever seen at the expense of unborn babies’ lives. And at the forefront of this dangerous movement are Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who both accepted their party’s nomination for president and vice president.

The Heartbreaking Case of Amanda Zurawski

Let’s take a look at the dangerous misinformation about pro-life laws, claiming that women are being denied life-saving care due to restrictions. One of the most egregious examples was the testimony of Amanda Zurawski and her husband, Josh, who shared their heartbreaking story of losing their unborn daughter, Willow.

Amanda’s case has been widely misrepresented for more than a year, but here’s what we know from court documents. At 18 weeks pregnant, her water broke, and she was told her pregnancy could not continue and that her baby could not survive, although the baby still had a heartbeat, and that her life was at risk. Instead of offering her an abortion immediately, she was told to wait, apparently until the baby died or she showed signs of acute infection.

Under Texas law, doctors could have acted immediately to protect her life. Tragically, her doctor delayed treatment until she developed sepsis, putting her life in even greater danger.

Texas Law Allows Immediate Abortions in Cases Like Amanda’s

This delay had nothing to do with Texas law. In fact, reports from Texas Health and Human Services confirm that doctors in Texas are performing abortions when necessary to save women’s lives, while reported elective abortions have dropped to zero, reinforcing that our laws are clear and effective in protecting both women and babies.

The Texas Supreme Court, in Zurawski v. Texas, unanimously upheld the constitutionality of the Human Life Protection Act, which protects unborn babies beginning at conception, while affirming that doctors can perform abortions to save a woman’s life or major bodily function. The Court explained that the woman’s death need not be imminent for this exception to apply.

The Texas Medical Board included that fact in their recently released rules for doctors regarding Texas abortion laws. The rules allow doctors to perform an abortion to save a woman’s life, and the threat to the woman’s life does not have to be imminent.

Despicable Misrepresentation

This is nothing new to Amanda, her husband, the Democratic National Committee, and the Harris campaign. It is despicable that they would misrepresent Texas law to advance Harris’ agenda of unlimited abortion, not just for the life-of-the-mother reasons but for elective reasons on demand up to birth paid for by our taxes. We can expect much more of this as their campaign progresses.
