U.S. House Passes Pro-Abortion National Health Insurance Plan
On March 21, the U.S. House of Representatives passed President Obama's national health care insurance plan, HR 3590, which contains significant provisions to pay for elective abortions.
The bill narrowly passed on a 219-212 vote.
Of the 32 U.S. representatives from Texas, all 20 Republicans voted against HR 3590, a pro-life vote. Of the 12 Democrats from Texas, 11 voted to support the bill, a pro-abortion vote. The exception was U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards (17- Waco), who supports legal abortion.
TAL's April 2010 Write for Life urges you to contact your own U.S. representative about his or her vote on HR 3590. U.S. representatives who voted pro-life need to be thanked, and those who did not should be admonished. See how all 32 U.S. representatives from Texas voted...
